It is never too late for the truth !

Giving up is giving into extremists, moderates are endangered species in Sri Lanka, we must change this, throwing your hands in the air and proclaiming it is too late is a cop out.

Sri-Lanka had more than a handful of great men..and we are witnessing what the country is going through despite those great men. Why our people never voted them to the top job to lead our country to her destiny and allow the people realize the stated goal of ;

Freedom from disease
Freedom from ignorance
Freedom from want, and
Freedom from fear.

Sure Bradmen Weerakoon can be counted among the few who can be called great men in our land…no more.. nothing to show for … perhaps he was not behind the communal politics and riots is enough to be great. Even Banda is great .. so what ?. The Country is bleeding….Do we have a Lee Kwan Yew among our great men or the elites ?. sometimes the cold comfort of our elite is confused as great.

Can We have informed non-emotional discourse ?. Hell no. That time has passed .. we have Bhikus in parliament....and talking extreme stuff..and then we have JVP spewing vernom ...then we had others before ..JR , Cyril, and more others ..and we had riots after riots ..and all those with good upbringing and good schooling chose the easy path completely opposite to all their upbringing and education , just to satisfy the mediocre in our society.

Why we or anyone has to keep pointing out all these , because they exist and no effort ever to weed our society of all these bigotry...too much double talk and very little straight talk about equality and justice.

It is too late to talk about sane and civilized discourse about critical issues, because the issues were made critical by our mad leaders looking for quick rise to power.. short cut to presidency or primiership and membership of the jumbo cabinet. Even Bhikku MPs import expensive cars duty free , only to sell and make a quick profit.

It is too late , even now a president's brother and adviser uses an epithet like Para-Demilla to a Tamil member of the jumbo cabinet.

It is too late , because Tamils are being rounded up and evicted from Colombo lodges to be bussed back to their homeland in the north-east.

It is too late because we never spent and development ruppees in the north-east .

It is too late because we , our leaders don't care except their own power on the back of the people.

It is too late , because the whole world knows that there is something fundamentally wrong and our leaders are not even willing to listen...signs of a failed state down a slippery slope of HR violations , repressions and more and more crime against their own citizens.

It is simply too late for an INFORMED NON-EMOTIONAL DISCOURSE...Period.
